CreateCutline - Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 28th, 2026 Published by: Myles Spandorf, California, United States Contact: info@createcutline.com
This explains exactly what CreateCutline does with information. It is short because the software does very little with it.
The short version
CreateCutline runs entirely on your own computer. Your artwork is never uploaded, transmitted, or seen by us. The only thing that leaves your machine is what is needed to check that your licence is valid.
What we collect, and when
When you activate or check a licence, CreateCutline sends two things to Lemon Squeezy, our payment and licensing provider:
- Your licence key - to confirm the licence exists and is active.
- An anonymous machine identifier - to count activations against your seat limit.
Your computer's IP address is necessarily visible to Lemon Squeezy when that request is made, as it is with any internet connection.
The machine identifier is a hardware serial value already present on your computer. It is not your name, your email, or anything about your work. We use it only to tell one installation from another so that a licence bought for two machines works on two machines.
The software collects nothing else. There is no telemetry, no usage tracking, no crash reporting, and no advertising identifier in the plug-in. We cannot see what files you open, what you design, or how often you use it.
This website is separate, and it does use a privacy-preserving visitor count. See Visiting this website below.
What stays on your computer
Three things are written locally and never transmitted:
The licence file - licence.json, in your Application Support (macOS) or
AppData (Windows) folder. It holds your licence key, the activation identifier
returned by Lemon Squeezy, and the date the licence was last checked.
A diagnostic log - written to your Adobe user-data folder when a cutline is created. It records the document name, the settings used, and measurements of the shapes involved, so that a problem can be diagnosed. It stays on your machine unless you choose to send it to us for support.
A note inside the cutline itself - CreateCutline writes a short text note onto the cutline it creates, recording the version of the software and the settings used, so a cutline can be identified later. It contains no personal information and no licence details. It is stored inside your Illustrator file, so it travels with that file if you send it on; you can view or remove it in Illustrator's Attributes panel.
Visiting this website
createcutline.com is served by Cloudflare, and we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read. It is worth being precise about what that does and does not do, because it is unusually limited:
- No cookies. Nothing is stored in your browser, so there is nothing to accept or decline.
- No fingerprinting, and no attempt to identify you as an individual.
- No tracking across other websites. It cannot see anywhere you have been before or go afterwards.
- No advertising use. The data is not sold, shared, or used to target you.
What it records is the page address, the referring page, your browser and operating system, your country, and how quickly the page loaded. Your IP address is necessarily visible to Cloudflare when your browser requests a page, as it is for any website, and is used to derive the country before being discarded. We see only aggregate figures: how many visits a page received, not who made them.
None of this applies to the plug-in. Nothing about your artwork, your files, or your use of CreateCutline inside Illustrator reaches this website.
Who else is involved
Lemon Squeezy handles payment and licence verification, and is the merchant of record for purchases. Their handling of your data is covered by their own privacy policy at lemonsqueezy.com.
Cloudflare hosts createcutline.com and provides the visitor count described above. Their handling of data is covered by their own privacy policy at cloudflare.com.
We operate no server of our own, and no other third party receives anything.
How long it is kept
Your licence record is held by Lemon Squeezy for as long as your licence exists, and afterwards as their records and tax obligations require. Files on your own computer stay until you delete them.
Your choices and rights
To stop all transmission: use Deactivate this machine in the panel's information pane, or simply delete the licence file. CreateCutline contacts nothing at all once there is no licence to check.
To see, correct, or delete what is held about you: email us at info@createcutline.com and we will respond within one month. Depending on where you live you may have rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR, or similar laws to access, correct, export, or erase your personal data, and to complain to your data protection authority.
Purchase records we cannot delete on request are the ones we are legally required to retain for tax purposes.
CreateCutline is a professional tool sold to businesses. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and note the change in the software's release notes.
